Project Meeting in Ningbo (China) 2016

20 May 2016

Our project team recently met at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China to plan for the next 12 months, with a focus on our choice of case studies in China, France, Germany, Holland and the UK. We also reviewed the global smart-eco-city database work to date, and the country-specific ‘horizon-scanning’ work which has taken place in Year One.  A series of reports profiling cities where significant smart-eco activity is taking place will be available on this website later this summer.

We were joined by Dr Crison Chien from the National University of Taiwan, who gave us a talk on eco-smart development in the Chinese context (Download the slides as a pdf), and Mr Liu Lianghua from the Ningbo Academy of Smart City Development, who gave us a presentation on current and planned smart city activity in the city of Ningbo in preparation for a visit to the Ningbo Smart City Science & Technology Museum.

Following the activities in Ningbo, our team travelled to Shanghai to visit a series of sites. Both Ningbo and Shanghai are on our shortlist of potential in-depth case studies for Year Two of the project.
